I've decided to take up hacking Super Mario World again. Haven't started yet though.
I'm going to make them short, about 10 or 15 levels apiece. I'm open to suggestions.

Level: Start on a floating platform. As soon as you step on it, it starts going. Fast. Not, 1.5 times faster, like 3 times faster. IT's your job to duck, jump, and fall over, under, and onto different obstacles and platforms. If you fall off your speed-form, lava. Only 1 block should be in the lava, and it shall has a 5-up Moon on it, as well as a hole, in the lava, with a secret ending.
Item: Shotgun. How has this NOT been done yet?!
Item: Tanooki Suit. YOU. NEED. THE. TANOOKI.
Item: Bomb. Only able to be armed and detonated by the player. Explosion radius, 10 tiles. GET OUTTA THE WAY!
Mode: Alternate World. Much like Luigi's Mansion and one of those games where you're Dracula's son, you need another, slighlty changed world. Like after you kill Bowser or whatever you have to jump on repeatedly at the end boss, you need to have a small portal appear that transports you to the alt world.
RECOMMENDED CHANGES FOR ALT WORLD:
-Bigger enemies. Sliiiiiightly bigger. And faster.
-Less coins. SAYV UR MUNY, MARY-O.
-Less ? blocks.
-And an extra, BONUS level you get for beating both worlds! Full of coins, 5-ups, 1-ups, and all that good shit. The best part? NO ENEMIES!!1
This is all in the realm of going into the ROM and changing code. For items, you need something called "SpriteTool", and I still haven't figured out how to use it. And if I did, there'd still have to be a tanooki suit file with it. Also, a 10 tile radius is something YOU wouldn't be able to out run. The 3-UP and 5-UP Moons are both objects, not sprites, so they can't appear in blocks.

As for the level, It can be done, but platform speed can't be controlled. So it's doable.
As for the special alt world...
It's possible, but I can't change the enemies. I could put more... and make harder jumps. =3
I could have a secret exit in Bowser's Castle that sends you there. There are dozens of unused "TEST" levels that I can use for that, and I'll just need to edit the overworld.
But the bomb is remotely controlled! YOU choose when it detonates.
And how the hell would I do that?!
Shoulder buttons. R to plant, L detonates.
That's not what I meant. HOW would I be able to make that happen? I can't change controls, let alone make them detonate a sprite!

1. Can't do that. They have to use 4 frames, and I can't really control the speed. Actually, maybe I could, but I don't think it's worth going through all that code.
2. I don't know how to tell ya this, but the song actually has to be in a TXT format to be inserted (WTF, right?), and they must use Super Mario World instruments. There isn't a version in SMW Central, so I can't add it. Send me a PM for a Winamp plugin that can play SPCs, TXT converted to music. Still, good job on that, but maybe needs a subtle BG intrument at the beginning.
